 Design of a custom-built trolley with telescopic extensions and spreader system

The ManuLine team recently designed and developed a custom-built ergonomic trolley with telescopic extensions for a world-leading packaging machine supplier. This trolley enables the client to assemble 3 or 4 sub-assemblies at workstations. Our design office also developed a specific spreader system to facilitate movement of the assembled modules.

Technical features of the trolley with telescopic extensions and spreader system

Our team developed this telescopic trolley and its spreader system to meet our client’s requirements as accurately as possible. The aim is to optimise handling by relieving the operator of physical strain, thus improving productivity.

Features of the custom-built trolley:

• Limit stops to help position the various modules with straps to hold them in place on the trolley.
• Retractable, adjustable legs to ensure the trolley is level once the extensions are deployed.
• Swivel castors with brake locking device to secure the trolley in place.
• 2 swivel castors with a directional lock to position the trolley at the workstation with ease (extended length) or allow towing (fixed castors).
• The trolley also features a retractable drawbar to enable movement with an electric tug.

Once the modules have been assembled together, a specific spreader system – adjustable between several positions along various axes – can lift assemblies with different centres of gravity horizontally.

The spreader system can then position the assembled modules directly onto the complete machine assembly.
